Strata Community Insurance is a new entrant in the Northern Territory, and we’re looking for our inaugural Claims Consultant to be our boots on the ground. You’ll work alongside our Darwin-based Business Development Manager to deliver a superior, on-the-ground claims service to the strata communities we serve, and help shape how SCI shows up in the Territory.

About the role

This is a rare opportunity to build something from the beginning. You’ll be based in Darwin, Katherine or Alice Springs, working from home initially while we establish our local presence, with the expectation that you’ll be out in the strata community meeting lot owners, brokers, strata managers and trades face to face. You’ll report to the Claims Manager of our Western Australia, South Australia and Northern Territory claims team in Perth, with your focus predominantly on the NT market.

You’re curious, love a good conversation and take pride in seeing a matter through to the end. You combine technical insurance knowledge with empathy, sound judgement and a proactive approach to claims outcomes.

What you’ll do

• Manage claims end to end, analysing policy terms and applying sound judgement, working within claims authority and escalating where needed.
• Be the face of SCI claims on the ground, building strong relationships with brokers, strata managers and lot owners.
• Communicate confidently and empathetically with assessors, builders, brokers and strata managers.
• Build a trusted local network of builders, assessors, legal experts and other service providers.
• Partner with our Business Development Manager to support our value proposition in the Northern Territory.
• Identify opportunities to improve claims outcomes and share what you learn with our wider claims team.

What you’ll bring

• Insurance industry experience, with general insurance claims experience highly regarded, ideally managing property claims or loss adjusting.
• Strata experience, which is highly valued but not essential.
• The independence and drive to work effectively from home and in the field, backed by a team in Perth.
• Clear, professional and empathetic communication skills.
• A curious mindset and a drive for continuous improvement.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
• A valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel locally, and interstate on occasion.
